Petersburg — Thank you to Boy Scout Troop 24 who officiated at our flag retirement ceremony 9/11. It was done very professionally and honorably. And thanks to the many who provided a wonderful breakfast to begin our worship of Jesus around our tables. He has equipped you to share his love and mercy!

Huntingdon — We may have moved away but our eyes are still on you day and night all the way to the grave.

Huntingdon — Democrats and their progressive friends are just as guilty as the ones they accuse. Throughout 2020, the left progressives in multiple cities staged hundreds of violent riots, looting, assaults, arson and murders. Detractors will say their violence was somehow justified because it happened as a result of George Floyd’s death, as if any of this had to do with George Floyd. There were also the numerous riots after Trump won the 2016 presidential election. Apparently, Biden (and every Democrat in the country) has forgotten about the plot by a left-wing fanatic to throw acid on the guests at one of Trump’s inaugural balls and a left-wing radical nut who shot Congressman Steve Scalise for no reason other than he is a Republican. So, Joe, stop villainizing innocent people in over half the country in all your silly little nitwit speeches.

Huntingdon — Europeans sold themselves on the idea it was somehow better for the environment to outsource their energy to countries with no environmental regulation to speak of rather than take responsibility for judiciously tapping their own resources. Remember when Trump warned everyone about this? At the time, specifically calling out the Germans for their dependence on Russia and they laughed at him. Then all the liberal news media showed the clip of the German delegation at the UN laughing at Trump while they called him an embarrassment on the world stage. Who’s laughing now? By the way, because of the socialist and Democrat Party policies, our home heating cost are already outrageous, and the home heating season is just starting. You and your fearless leader specifically are to blame and no one else. Remember when we used to be energy independent? We still could be if it wasn’t for you know.

Huntingdon — It has been good news at the pumps, gasoline down, another one of the government’s fancy double speak tricks. With the new COLA coming out soon, the government will try to keep inflation down and then after the COLA, the price of gasoline will go back up (excuse is winter blend gasoline) and another free school lunch for everybody. Give, teach the children government handouts are the way of the future.

Alexandria I hope everyone realizes how important the election is. We have a governor who wants to give everything away. We can not do that. The president’s first job in office was to shut down the heartbeat of America, our oil and gas industry in Pennsylvania. The cost of living took a huge jump, putting hundreds of thousands of people out of work. Gas prices were $2.40 per gallon then. Look at the price now, along with everything you buy. Heat, electric, phone, food and everything we purchase is sky high. Wake up, people. The Democratic Party is out of control. We were producing more natural gas then anyone else in America and our gas tax is one of the highest in America. Why? Because of the radical Democratic Party. All they want to do is spend and give money away to buy votes. Vote Republican and things will change.

Neelyton — Like other voters concerned with upholding longstanding American values, I was stunned to learn that our candidate for governor, Doug Mastriano, chose to wear the uniform of a Confederate traitor for a faculty photo at the Army War College (AWC) in Carlisle. How could a faculty member with three decades of military service, and a Ph.D. in history, do this? Traitors wearing that uniform killed 360,222 U.S. soldiers in the Civil War. As a historian, he must have known this. The highly regarded Army War College has declared this “does not meet AWC values.” I agree. And he doesn’t meet longstanding American values either. I won’t vote for him.

Huntingdon — I’m voting for Ian Kidd for state representative. He grew up in Huntingdon County, is energetic and passionate about making this region better. He’s a dedicated teacher and has great ideas for making the 81st district fair and equitable for everyone.

Walker Twp. — When we write into law that goes against the word of God, we prove to the world that we’re a Godless nation and will be rightly punished.

Orbisonia — Remember when former President Obama held a press conference and wore a tan suit? Scandalous! And then there’s ex president Trump.

Huntingdon — As election season approaches, I choose the candidates who are accessible and accountable. As one party shuts out journalists to the point of a local stop not even making the newspaper, another puts forth candidates like local educator Ian Kidd who is knocking doors, attending events across political spectrums and prints his personal number on business cards he hands out to voters. A good representative is your voice in government, and can only be that voice if they care to listen. Vote for good representation like Mr. Kidd.

Huntingdon — Can we be kind to each other instead of snubbing or yelling? Kindness is needed.

Walker Twp. — Ian Kidd has great ideas to help create good-paying jobs, with benefits for the 81st District. That’s why I’m voting for him.

Hopewell — It looks like Trump might have been more of a Russian agent than a U.S. president. Did he copy and sell us government secrets and did he also copy them? Will we ever know? Probably not in our lifetime if the GOP has anything to do about it!

Saxton — MAGA — Make attorneys get attorneys. Think about it. Oh, so true! Always speak truth and live in truth, for it will set you free. Proverbs 12:13.

Mount Union — Thank you to all who supported the Mount Union Chamber of Commerce fall flower sale. Mount Union is an amazing little town with beautiful caring people. God bless all of you.

Petersburg — I would like to thank ES ministries store at the Petersburg Nazarene Church and the many volunteers, All proceeds go out to the community. I am also thankful for the Crossroads Pregnancy Center in Huntington We need to open our our hearts and minds to the good that God has given us and spread the joy with one another. Pass the blessing along and change the life of somebody you might never know you helped. Love one another as God has loved you and watch the world change one person at a time. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so this is the least we could do. Cast your sins away, live in the promises of God’s word. God gave his only begotten son to die so that we could live and have everlasting life.

Mount Union — If you want the legalization of all drugs, prison inmates set free, open borders and an end to fracking, vote for “Fetterwoman.” He has a T-shirt that says that — for himself and for you. Think very carefully before you vote!

Barneytown — Sunday’s Philadelphia Inquirer’s front page article on candidate Mastriano made clear why his momentary stop in Huntingdon County last spring wasn’t announced publicly — his campaign keeps him insulated from the general public and in the middle of a muddle of thugs, one of whom turned away a reporter by telling her that she didn’t deserve an interview because she “…hadn’t written anything nice about Mr. Mastriano.” By refusing to engage with the press, he resembles the frog in the poem that “tells his name the livelong day to admiring bog.” Josh Shapiro’s candidacy is thug-free and addresses real issues to Pennsylvanians rather than protecting his bloated ego.

Huntingdon — Are you still a Democrat? Then you give yourself away. You don’t watch Fox News or you’d see for yourself the harmfulness of the Dems. Harmfulness like in the acts of shutting down the pipelines to depleting our emergency gas reserves like he’s doing to trick us into believing he’s really doing something to help us. No! Those reserves are for an emergency like a hurricane or six months reserves emergency fund. Three months, six months, whatever you have, money set aside for those things that could happen. And they lie about Roe v. Wade. Abortion and is not abolished in the United States. It’s up to your state to decide this for the residents of that particular state. Read the Constitution. It’s not long. In order for the federal government to have power, it must be stated or enumerated.

Huntingdon Co. — I’m calling about the service they had at the Petersburg Nazarene Church Sept. 11. I wanted to give praises to the Boy Scouts who did such a wonderful program on the proper way to get rid of faded flags and it’s nice to know we have a group of boys that want do these kind of things.

Huntingdon Co. — Abuse is physical and mental. My friend suffered both and when asked which was the worst, she said mental. Constant complaining is mental abuse and steals the joys of others. If you can change what you’re complaining about, change it. Most times you can, if you can’t, pray about it and don’t continue to steal others’ happiness. It’s unfair to use a friend. Also the narcissistic personality is someone who talks about themselves all the time to convince others they’re important and they also think others are inferior. I wish there was a group of people that met outdoors each week just to be happy and laugh. That’s what we did as kids and those are the best days of our lives.

Huntingdon Co. — Could someone please explain to me why Joe Biden will not secure the border by building a wall, but he is trying to secure his Delaware home by building a wall around it? Makes no sense to this taxpayer.

Huntingdon Co. — First time caller, longtime reader. The caller last week from Huntingdon, who said “Enjoy learning some history,” needs to pick up a book themselves. The caller is correct in stating the GOP supported the Civil War amendment to the cConstitution. However, during the progressive era the Democratic Party started becoming more liberal regarding civil rights, with certain factions in the country remaining opposed. In the 1940s, President Truman, a Democrat, desegregated the military. It wasn’t until President Kennedy was elected in 1960 that there was a moral and ethical switch of the parties regarding civil rights. Dude, I have read many books and gone to woke college. You need to turn off Fox News.

Three Springs — I would like to thank Louis and Sarah for the donuts and hot dogs and burgers Louis grilled for us for our picnic. We had a potluck dinner at the center. We all had a great time. I also would like to thank Linda and Ivan Varner for taking us on the CART and also Judy, our manager, for driving to Swigart’s Museum, the dollar store and eating at Nick’s Diner. Lunch was good. We were also going to Cowans Gap, but the rain stopped that, so we had our indoor picnic at our center. I would like to thank Donna Mitchell for the wonderful Bible study we have every week and for all the prizes she and Linda Varner donated to us for bingo. Thank you to Gary Brown for bringing in tomatoes, green beans and watermelon and Linda Clark for dropping off tomatoes.

Huntingdon — You know, every once in a while when I hear John Fetterman spiel about wanting things made in this country, I think, you know that pretty much sounds like what President Trump used to say at the time and how the problem with the country stems from Washington, again what President Trump used to say at the time. Seems to me like John Fetterman could maybe be a little bit of a Republican On the offset, maybe somebody could start a GoFundMe account for him so he can afford to buy a new hoodie.

Porter Twp. — Oz can’t wait to dip into that deep dollar DC lobby trough. Trump and his potato heads smell jail coming, no wonder they’re all screaming louder, threatening us all. More and more folks are waking up from their Trump slumber. You’d have to be comatose not to. His horse apple sedition campaign is back to full volume. Despite that, justice is snapping at his tail. Cover your ears, indictments bring tears. Seditionist trash promises great times ahead, civil war, empty stores, empty gas stations, no electricity. No meds. Happy days indeed. MAGA. It’s about time for ratchet jaw to go back to his florida stooge farm and bring in the harvest. Saw that traitor to his oath, Mastriano, was dumping his lies in Huntingdon Tuesday. Insurrectionist bum needs jailed. Think Harrisburg’s oppressive now?

Springfield Twp. — Springfield Township residents, come to the township meeting and get the true story. It has been explained several times, but some people refuse to listen and continue to spread lies. If you don’t who the trouble makers are in the township, you’ll soon find out.

Huntingdon Co. — Where in the Constitution does it you give the woman a right to abort the child? Where in the Constitution just say the same sex marriage is okay? My Bible says so shalt not kill. My Bible says man shall not lie with man. Who are you going to respond to on judgment day?

Porter Twp. — Democrat rulers think we are stupid. Inflation is at a 40-year high, but we’re told the economy is fine. Gasoline prices have dropped, but are still $1.75 more than when Biden took over. Not long ago we were oil independent. Then Biden took over, and now we buy our oil from our enemies. These are people who want to kill us and we’re giving them vast amounts of money to carry out that mission. There is no problem at the southern border, but millions of criminals are breaking into our country, bringing fentanyl and other drugs, plus diseases, some we don’t have names for. Now you dumb people, we’re going to pay for other people’s student loans. Irene Moore pieced my house, which is a loan, to send my sons to trade school. Am I going to be able to get some of this free money? Fat chance.

Henderson Twp. — Well, the queen is dead. Long live the King. Meghan got her way because that’s what she’s been trying to do. Many have said that the grief that has been put out there between Harry and Meghan shortened the grand lady’s life. Will we ever know for sure?

Mount Union — Late last week the president said all flags should be at half mast Sept. 11 from dusk to dawn. I live in Mount Union area, so why weren’t any flags in Mount Union area at half mast Sept. 11? I saw one flag that was down at half mast. That was at the bank. I saw several that were down at half mast Monday. Actually it was Sept. 11 when you were supposed to put the flag down at half mast between dawn and dusk. You guys should pay attention.

Saxton — I was just wondering why Saxton does not enforce their homeowners to keep their yard and property cleaned up. Saxton looks terrible. With some of these homeowners, the way their yards and everything are, their weeds are so high, it’s not even funny. Like I said, I was just wondering why Saxton does not enforce it.

Cass Twp. — This is a shoutout to whoever was driving a pickup in Smith Valley recently with patriotic flags waving from the truck bed. You make me proud to be a flag-waving Republican who doesn’t care if the left-wing liberals now say I’m a domestic terrorist. What a bunch of hooey. If we don’t stand strong and salute and respect what have always been the American values, we are doomed. Keep the flags flying.

Saxton — I’m calling again about the electric cars not paying anything on the gas tax to help keep the roads repaired. I just don’t think it’s fair that I go buy $20 worth of gas, $5 of that 20 goes to fix the road, but if you have an electric car now, you’re not paying anything.

Huntingdon Co. — If you borrow money for any purpose there is an expectation that your repay it. President Biden’s reducing college debt is a slap in the face for hard working people, mechanics, truck drivers, policemen and people working 40 hours a week to support their families. Aren’t they just as important as a college student? How’s the Inflation Reduction Act working out for you?

Huntingdon Co. — Attention all Democrats. If you don’t like high gas prices, high food prices and runaway inflation, you voted for it. If you don’t like the idea of paying off your neighbor’s kid’s college tuition debt, you voted for it. If you don’t like being forced into buying an electric car for $60,000 or installing solar panels imported from China, you voted for it. Speaking of high gas prices, whenever gas goes up, Biden blames it on Putin and Trump, but whenever gas prices go down he takes the credit. If you check over 20 years right after the Fourth of July, gas prices usually drop because the traveling season is over. If you want more of the above, vote for the Democrats in November.

Mapleton — Mark Mills told Democrats converting to total green energy wouldn’t reduce global warming more than 0.0009 degrees by year 2100. Mills also told them mining enough rare green energy minerals would harm the environment 10 times worse than petroleum. Biden angrily snapped at Mills, “Come on, man! We have this under control!” Biden lifted a wooden stick and shouted, “This was carved from an Independence Hall chair leg.” Biden whirled the stick over head and shouted, “Watch this! Presto! 78-years of strategic minerals arrives from Heaven.” Another twirl, Biden shouted, “Shazam! Worn out solar panels and turbine blades will evaporate into the wind.” Biden spun the stick again and shouted, “global warming will be gone”! Democrats paid Mills for several reports to Biden and them, look them up. You’ll see congressional Democrats are well aware their climate bill will do nothing but make their wealthy friends much richer.
